What Makes CloudSource+ Different?

CloudSource+ Index

The CloudSource+ index currently incorporates metadata from every major academic journal publisher. It includes a global aggregation of all known open and closed access scholarly articles, eBooks, eTextbooks and other OER. New records are added multiple times per week, and enhanced metadata provides a robust discovery experience. Drawing from a variety of sources, the metadata consists of:

The index will continue to evolve with the addition of new formats and data sources to encompass not only books and articles but also theses and dissertations, curriculum, government documents, online courses, images, audio, and video. While the index is currently comprised of scholarly resources, additional resources such as newspapers, trade journals, and popular magazines are currently being added. Even local collections of digital resources—such as institutional repositories and local digital assets—may be added using our consulting services.

Though SirsiDynix is focused on building a comprehensive index of electronic resources with an emphasis on open access, we understand that each library has unique collection development needs. That’s why the CloudSource+ administration functionality empowers library staff to manage what content is available for discovery.

Knowledge Base

CloudSource+ incorporates a comprehensive knowledge base of electronic titles and packages from a wide variety of providers and can be expanded to include custom coverage. Currently, the knowledge base covers about 2,500 databases and represents over 100,000 journals from publishers, aggregators, and index/abstracting services. Title lists are uploaded on a regular basis to reflect changes in journal titles and coverage dates.

Link Resolver

CloudSource+ provides an integrated OpenURL resolver, and the discovery service can be integrated with 3^rd party resolvers if the library prefers. The incorporated OpenURL link resolver complies with current NISO standards, giving the library a wide variety of options that control how the link resolver behaves in different situations. The library can set display settings and configure parameters for Google Scholar.

A-Z Browse & Journal Finder

CloudSource+ includes a public interface that offers a not only A-Z browsing, but comprehensive searching of the publication records.

Database Reports

CloudSource+ includes a powerful reporting tool that offers comparisons of title lists from aggregators, publishers, and indexing/abstracting services, including:

comparisons of title lists on a one-by-one basis or on multiple databases at once. Reports are distributed in Excel format.
comparisons on any database, even if your institution does not subscribe to it.

Other Delivery Resources

For items not available with an OA license or through a subscription, CloudSource+ integrates with the library’s ILL solution and optionally Copyright Clearance Center’s Get It Now service, which provides immediate fulfillment of full-text articles from unsubscribed journals—24 hours a day, 7 days a week—through a cost-effective and easy-to-use service directly integrated into the link resolver.

With over 19,000 journals and tens of millions of articles, Get It Now helps libraries expand their virtual collection and provide articles not available through OA or the library’s subscriptions. It supports demand-driven acquisition, so libraries only pay for what’s being used—never paying for OA items. The library controls how the service is accessed and can opt for mediated or unmediated fulfillment. Get It Now fulfills article requests through a single, centralized service, and the Get It Now Dashboard enables staff to easily manage and track purchase data, configure settings, and generate real-time usage reports.
